mesa verde is a beautiful area. i was very taken by the cliff dwellings, the mountains and terrain. it's purported to have lots of wildlife, though we didn't see many. we did see 4 big buck our first night, some wild horses, and could smell where the mountain lions had been marking territory. i would have loved a glimpse of a bear....
we covered many miles during our trip earlier this month and would often just stop at points of interest and stretch our legs and look around. this was one of my favorite stops in colorado. temperatures were brisk, the day was beautiful, many people out enjoying the park, and we walked around a good while with our cameras drinking it all in.
the elk in the rockies were very acclimated to people...they just slowly grazed and ambled through the valley ignoring their audience. this fellow seemed to be saying...'she's mine...hoofs off!' isn't he cool??

this may not be a typical september shot, but we spent the first couple of weeks of september driving through the midwest. i tried to pick a couple that had a little fall color, though we were a little early to really see any fall colors.
these were taken in the rockie mountains. click on the link above to play along....you have until tomorrow evening.

i've been hardpressed for things to shoot lately and have resorted to exploring my back yard....trying not to think what my neighbors must think as i go along taking pictures of our shubbery and trees. lol but...i have always been fascinated with getting up close and personal with insects....as long as the critters aren't in my house or on me....they come in such a variety of shapes, sizes and colors.
