mesa verde is a beautiful area. i was very taken by the cliff dwellings, the mountains and terrain. it's purported to have lots of wildlife, though we didn't see many. we did see 4 big buck our first night, some wild horses, and could smell where the mountain lions had been marking territory. i would have loved a glimpse of a bear....

What a beautiful picture Gina. Yucky on smelling the mountain lions marking. We went tent camping in the mountains of North Ga once. We were the only ones in the campground and it was isolated. During the night some large cats of some sort came tearing through the campsite close to our tent fighting and screaming, needless to say that was the end of our tent camping on that trip, we came home the next day. Sounds like it was a really wonderful trip! The photo is beautiful!

Oh yes, a lone tree standing among a bunch of rocks and sand. Perfect!!! Trees make some exquisit landscapes.

okay, I'm a city girl at heart; how did you know it was mountain lions that had marked their territory as opposed to some other animal?
I never got to see a bear at Yellowstone; that was always a big disappointment when we'd visit and leave and hadn't seen a bear; especially when everyone else we talked to had always seen one
great picture; beautiful place!

Very beautiful shot, Gina. We have lots of bears over here, but they can be difficult to find at times. The shots of the elk look wonderful, too.
Sincerely, Rose~*
Very nice. I love the lone tree. Isn't the area wonderful around there.

How beautiful, the only phrase that I can think of when I look at this photograph is, "God's country."--Sheria
