round robin challenge: nostalgia

look for other entries at The Round Robin Photo Challenges

this week's challenge is nostalgia....'a bittersweet longing for things, persons, or situations of the past.'   well.....the following pics do it for me.

there's just something about that forlorn whistle of a train in the distance that stirs something deep within.....

and ohhhh, how i love the beach.  it's therapeutic to my soul!  just to watch and listen to waves tumbling over one another making it to shore.....

and i absolutely love christmas.....it's my most favorite time of the year!!!  :)

and there's nothing so peaceful as a sunrise on a lake.....

germany last summer....oh what a trip....such beauty....i do so want to go back!!

Beautiful Entry!   Christmas always give me a case of nostalgia, as well.   But, you can have the sand and the noisy trains....  lol

Nostalgia is a very familiar feeling for me, and so I loved this challenge.  Your photos are just gorgeous...love the train, love that feeling of hearing a long off horn sounding...

Gina,
Beautiful photos and we have some things in common with this entry...the train whistle and the Christmas connection. Bamnfla

Oh, my goodness - the train photo and the sunrise on the lake photo are wonderful!  (The others are nice too!)  Somehow I always seem to live within range of a train whistle, even when there are no tracks nearby.  Maybe it's a ghost train? - Karen

Beautiful pictures, with the feelings they evoke.  In the winter when the air conditioners are off, I can sometimes hear the train 5 miles away -- it always makes the ground rumble and the whistle sounds so lonesome in the distance, but at the same time it makes me feel cozy and warm, if that makes sense.

Just love the lake sunrise.  Great use of the "S" curve as a leading line.  The only thing I would change would be to clone out the power line.  Otherwise that is a very strong composition.
